So many places to visit in Pirenópolis!

The natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, composed of Cerrado (subtropical forest), hills, waterfalls and savannahs, complement the colonial characteristics of Pirenópolis. For those seeking tranquility typical Pirenópolis suggest avoiding the periods of the year when the city is with many visitors, like New Year and Carnaval. We recommend visiting the city during the middle of the week, when prices of accommodation and other tourist services are cheaper than weekends. During this period you can enjoy the colonial atmosphere of the city away from the crowds of tourists staying in Pirenópolis in search of nighttime fun and interaction with the natural tourist attractions. For those who prefer the busiest days and nights, seeing the city on weekends will be a very pleasant experience, giving the opportunity to enjoy the night life in cafes and restaurants on Rua do Lazer, which is considered the meeting point of most Pirenópolis visitors.

The story of Pirenópolis is a rich cultural diversity that balances tradition and avant-garde. The city was founded in the early 1700s, during the exploration of gold. In early 1800, the exhaustion of the gold mines led to a major economic decline of the city, and the few inhabitants who survived were agricultural. However, Pirenópolis continued to be a commercial point for entry to the West, since many roads have become a place of commercial activity and stopping point for those traveling with troops. During this period the region was virtually isolated from the rest of Brazil, which continued Pirenópolis keeping its original architecture and its cultural legacies.

It was only in the 1940s with the development of Goiânia (Goiás State Capital about 120 km away), and Brasilia in the 1960s (capital of Brazil, about 150 km away), that the city has been revitalized . The 1970s was marked by the arrival of several new people who brought young idealists from around the country and the world. These affected the local culture of Pirenópolis, bringing such knowledge on handmade silver jewelry and dream of living an alternative lifestyle in peace with nature and with the community.

Rural communities were created, while others remained in town to learn new skills and crafts. The "silver", local crafts, is known around the world and changed the economic profile of the town. Today, Pirenópolis reflects the richness of this cultural mix, making it a unique location.

There is so much to see and do in Pirenópolis! The city stands out for its reputation as a charming destination for ecotourism, adventure sports and cultural legacies.

The tourist infrastructure has several options of inns and hotels to suit all tastes, from the most traditional to the most demanding. The selection of dishes offered in restaurants is also excellent, as well as the nightlife on weekends.
